Why not just walk into a range?
You can, and plenty of people do. But a range rents you a lane; it does not teach you. Here is the difference for a first visit.
On your own
- Figure out check in, rules and range commands yourself
- Learn from videos and guesswork
- Bad habits are easy to pick up and hard to fix
- Many people leave unsure if they did it right
With Focal Point Academy
- Safety basics first, in a calm classroom
- An instructor beside you on the firing line
- Real time correction on grip, stance and trigger
- A clear next step when you are ready for more

What first timers say
Had an outstanding time at the range today with Sam. Had some troubles shooting and he was able to talk me through everything that was going on right then and there and correct me in real time. Awesome person and a great instructor.
My instructor, Sam, was not only professional, but also had a natural ease about himself that kept me at ease in what could have been a very stressful situation.
I have now taken 4 classes and could not be more impressed by how much care and detail Sam puts into his classes. There is NOBODY in SoCal that does a better job at truly teaching the material.
